Privacy policy
Last updated 1 November 2026. This policy explains what Mix & Frame collects when you use Mix & Frame (formerly CapPaste) on the web at mixandframe.com (and its old address, cappaste.com) or in the app for Android and iPhone (the same editor), why, and the choices you have. Mix & Frame is made by ChatCript Technologies (Pvt) Ltd, which is responsible for your data.
What stays on your device
- Your videos, photos and audio files are opened and edited inside your browser. The files themselves are not uploaded to Mix & Frame (see Content review below for the small preview frames we keep).
- AI features (captions, voice isolation, noise reduction, background removal, scene detection) run on your computer. The AI models are downloaded to your browser; your media is not sent anywhere to process it.
- Projects are saved to a folder you choose or to this browser’s storage. Exports are created on your computer and saved or downloaded by you.
- Recordings from your camera, screen or microphone are made in your browser and saved with your project; they are not uploaded. Library sounds are generated on your device.
What we collect
- Account details from Google or Apple sign-in: your name, email address (with Apple, possibly a private relay address), profile photo (Google only) and an account ID from the provider.
- Your country, which you choose when you first sign in, so we can see where Mix & Frame is used.
- Usage records: sign-ins and app opens (with the time, browser type and screen size), projects created or opened, exports and failed exports (settings such as resolution, format, length and file size) and which AI features were used.
- Templates: which built-in template a project was made from (counted for each template), the star ratings you give templates, and the templates you mark as favourites, and your recently used templates. These are kept with your account; each template’s totals (how many times it was used, how many ratings and stars) contain no personal details.
- Export copies: when an export finishes, a copy of the project file (the edit: clip positions, text, settings and file names — no media) and preview images taken from the exported video (3 for videos up to a minute, otherwise about one every 30 seconds) are saved to your Mix & Frame account. Each export also saves a 10-second sample taken at a random point, in low quality, for content filtering: for video exports a small clip with its sound (480 pixels wide, about 0.5 MB) and 3 to 5 small pictures; for audio exports the audio only (mono, about 30 KB).
- Content review frames: when you add a video to a video project, 2 to 4 frames taken at random moments (2 for clips under a minute, 3 up to 3 minutes, 4 for longer clips) are saved as small 300-pixel-wide pictures, with the file name, length and project name, so the administrator can check that Mix & Frame is not used for adult content. Audio projects are reviewed through the sample saved with each audio export instead.
- Messages you send with Contact us: the subject, your message, your name and email.
- Landing page visits: when you open the Mix & Frame home page without signing in, we add one to that day’s visitor count and to a count for your likely country, guessed from your browser’s time zone (no IP address, no cookie). Your browser remembers the date so you are counted once a day. Nothing identifies you.
- Anonymous usage counts: once a day for each thing, your browser adds one to that day’s count of where the editor runs (browser, installed app, desktop or phone app), installs and downloads, windows and side tabs opened (for example the Mixer or Captions) and Google Play or support (donation) links clicked. Only the totals are stored, with no account, IP address or cookie; your browser remembers the date so each thing counts once a day.
- Google Ads: on the home page, Google’s ad tag notes whether you came from one of our Google ads (in a Google cookie on the site), and when you create an account we tell Google Ads that a sign-up happened — without your name or email. The Android and iPhone apps never load Google’s ad tag. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland the ad cookie is off. The tag is not loaded inside the editor.
How we use it
- To run your account, keep the service working, fix problems and understand which features are used so we can improve them.
- To reply to your messages, and to check content against our content rules (the review frames and export samples are used only for this). If review frames, export samples or exports show adult content, the administrator can disable exporting for the account; you are told when you try to export.
- We do not sell your information, do not show ads and do not use your media to train AI models.
Where it is stored and who can see it
- Account, usage and message records are stored with Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore). Export copies, content review frames and audio samples are stored with Amazon Web Services (S3). The site is served through Amazon CloudFront. A one-time welcome email is sent to your sign-in address through Amazon SES; replies to it reach us by email.
- Only you (through the app) and the Mix & Frame administrator can access your records. Security rules block access by anyone else.
- Records are kept while your account is active. You can delete your account and its records yourself in Settings → Delete account (see Deleting your account), or ask us with Contact us. Everything is removed straight away, except a record that exporting was disabled for the account (kept with its email address so it also applies to a new account with that address) and anything we must keep by law. Server logs that mention the account are deleted within 30 days.
Your choices
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time with Contact us or by email to privacy@mixandframe.com, or delete your account yourself in Settings → Delete account.
- Signing out removes the sign-in from this browser. Clearing the site’s data in your browser deletes projects and settings kept in browser storage.
- Mix & Frame is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
- If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too.
